Fiatlux I 25 years of entertainment

Concept Fiatlux specializes in original, and creative, pyrotechnic presentations.  It is because of this ability to safely push the limits, and become more creative with each presentation, that Concept Fiatlux is renowned at home and abroad.

The corporation was founded in 1985 by a group of very passionate individuals whose main focus was to entertain by doing what they loved to do.  Over the past 25 years, many people have joined the Fiatlux team and continue to add to the high level of customer service, as well as the high quality of productions that Fiatlux is known for.

Michel Rioux, founder of the company, not only acts as President but is also Production Manager for Cirque du Soleil’s biggest permanent theatre production and also acts as Management Counsellor for the Cirque. Recently, Maude Furtado joined Fiatlux as the General Manager. With her work experience of over ten years producing national and international fireworks events, Concept Fiatlux is adding an experienced person to the team. Up to this date, Maude Furtado has worked and developed numerous International Fireworks Competitions, including those in Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur, Toronto, Hull, Quebec City and Vancouver where she is still co-producing the Celebration of Light competition. Apart from the owners and administrative council, the company has six full time employees supported by a team of up to 80 people in high season periods. They all work passionately to illuminate skies all over Canada and abroad.

With the advent of Concept FD as part owner, Frank Furtado and Marcel Dallaire joined the Fiatlux team. In 1976, Frank Furtado acted as Executive Producer for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Montreal Olympic Games. From 1985 to 1998 he initiated many fireworks festivals across Canada and abroad. These include Benson & Hedges Montreal, Symphony of Fire in Toronto, and Celebration of Light in Vancouver, Acapulco Mexico, Les Grand Feux Loto-Québec in Québec City, Hull Ottawa, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Frank still produces the Vancouver and Quebec shows to this day.

With more than 25 years directing special events of international calibre, Marcel Dallaire is also cofounder and still coproduces Les Grands Feux Loto-Québec with Frank Furtado.

Jean-Pierre Cousineau also became part owner of Fiatlux along with Sébastien Roy who is a long time Fiatlux employee and acts as Production Manager.

With the 2010 New Year, came the accession of Éric Cardinal amongst Concept Fiatlux’s shareholders. Mr. Cardinal, General Manager of Ampleman Pyrotechnie, brings with him a well established company and his team of experts with an unsurpassed sense of creativity. This association brings you the Fiatlux-Ampleman Group, the new Canadian leader in the pyrotechnic industry. The knowhow, unified teams and artistic forces will allow us to offer a wide range of pyrotechnic possibilities unique to Fiatlux-Ampleman.

Concept Fiatlux has always been a leader in the industry, always finding ways to accommodate small firing sites, incorporating pyrotechnic in venues no one would have imagined and finding new and imaginative ways to integrate itself into productions.

Using multiple rooftops in downtown areas, having the crowd interact with the fireworks displays, using multiple barges to widen the audience area, integrating fireworks, pyrotechnics and special effects in live television shows and theatrical events and surprising the audience with unannounced fireworks hidden back stage or on rooftops during a concert are just some the ways used by Concept Fiatlux to surprise, amaze and dazzle audiences.

Fiatlux has also developed its own live theatrical performers integrating pyrotechnics effects and a flame generator system that can range from 2 to 20 generators that can be integrated to live concerts & performances, fireworks displays, venues such as motocross or monster trucks events and any other event one could think of. The system can be operated manually or by computer, and using time code, can be synchronized to music, lighting and video with an unsurpassed precision.

Concept Fiatlux has dazzled audiences across Canada and around the World. We are proud to have represented Canada in many international fireworks competitions, including Mexico, France, Spain, Sweden, South Africa, Belgium, USA, Monaco, Russia, Taiwan, Malaysia, China and Portugal! Throughout its history, Concept Fiatlux has always been involved in large scale events ranging from international pyrotechnics festivals, partnerships with Cirque du Soleil, Québec City’s 400th anniversary and participation to large scale urban festivals such as Montreal’s International Jazz Festival, and Montreal’s Festival of Lights. Joining forces and creating partnerships with companies around the world such as Goupe F in France, Igual in Spain and Panzera in Italy, major pyrotechnics companies or product manufacturers. In its travels around the world, Concept Fiatlux has become the Canadian pyrotechnics company with the most recognition in international fireworks festivals totalling more than 20 trophies.
